Diamond Mine 12u Wins Super NIT

The Diamond Mine 12U won the Beast of the East Super NIT in Morganton this weekend.

The team went 1-1 on Saturday. They started the day defeating the
Statesville Sluggers 12-2, behind a six inning complete game by Evan Caywood and
two hits each from Jesse Danner, Deegan Randall, Evan Caywood and Jomar Darity. The second game was a
5-4 loss to the Ramblers 11U, despite an excellent four inning complete
game by Mason Anderson.

They went into Sunday as the five seed and defeated the four seed
Tennessee Prospects 5-1. Deegan Randall continued the teams stellar pitching
performances over the weekend, dealing a five inning complete game.
Defense was the difference in this one as the team collected only three
hits against the Prospects pitching.

Next up was the one seed WCW Black. Camden pitched a five inning
complete game and the team fell 5-4, but the WCW Black was forced to
forfeit due to a rules violation, sending the team to the championship
game against the RBA White.

Despite falling behind 6-2 in the first inning, the 12u team fought back
behind Tanner Stewart and Jesse Danner to win 9-8.

Congratulations to the 12u players, coaches and parents for such an outstanding championship weekend.
