Diamond Mine 15u Finishes Runner Up

The Diamond Mine 15u baseball team had a very solid weekend finishing runner up in a highly competitive Appalachian Showcase in East Tennessee.  The Diamond Mine got off to a spectacular start with Geoffrey Davis hurling a 7 inning complete game No hitter in game one.  Davis struck out nine and only walked one.  The Diamond Mine walked off in the bottom of the 7 th with the score tied 0-0.  Third baseman Excel Ramires hit a sacrifice fly scoring Luke Williamson who had reached on a base hit and advanced on a hit and run by Caleb Baker.


The Diamond Mine tied game two 7-7 but rebounded with a convincing 8-1 victory behind the pitching arm of Luke Williamson.  Williamson was outstanding going 5 strong innings surrendering 6 hits and had 8 strikeouts.  Offensively, The Diamond Mine collected 11 hits on the day.  Caleb Baker, Excel Ramires, Parker Roberts and Matt Wells each had two hits each to pace the attack.


In the Championship game, The Diamond Mine was overmatched by The KMA Mustangs out of central Kentucky.  The Mustangs jumped out to an early lead and won going away 10-3.  Wyatt Dupree suffered the loss for The Diamond Mine.


The Diamond Mine jumps right back into the fray this weekend at The CABA State Championships in Spartanburg, SC.  The Diamond Mine begins play Saturday at 2:00 at Wofford College.
