Diamond Mine 13U Goes 4-0 En Route to Mountain Ring Challenge Championship

The Diamond Mine 13U had a great weekend playing at Shuey Legion field in Morganton, June 27-28. 
In the opener, Mason Anderson shut down Freedom Baseball 13U allowing only one hit. 
Deegan Randall and Jesse Danner both went 2-3 with a double. Tanner Stewart added a double among the 8 hits compiled by the team. The defense made plays and committed no errors. 
Saturday's games concluded with a 10-3 win over the Asheville Angels. The batters came out hot, plating nine runs in the first two innings, lead by a triple by Deegan Randall and doubles by Jesse Danner and Garrett Case. 
Garret pitched a solid five innings, giving up only two earned runs and compiling five strikeouts. 
The team entered Sunday as the one seed and faced a rematch with the Asheville Angels. 
Deegan Randall threw a two hit shutout in an 8-0 win. 
The offense was lead by Asher Ring who went 3-4 and Mason Anderson, Jesse Danner and Deegan Randall who each went 2-3. Bennett Knauer and Jesse Danner each contributed doubles.
The game was capped by Deegans inside the park home run on a deep line drive to left center. 
The championship game was a matchup with WCW Elite Red 13U. 
Jesse Danner went a strong 6.1 innings and Tanner Steward and Mason Anderson each went 2-3.
The score was 6-2 going to the top of the 7th. WCW scattered several weak hits plating four to tie the game. In the bottom of the 7th, Asher Ring reached on a fielding error. Tanner Stewart laid down a beautiful bunt down the third base line. Chaos ensued and Asher was able to go from first to home to walk it off for the championship.

The 13U is back in action in Kingsport, July 11-12.
